BLACKBURN MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO FLASHING TEENAGE GIRLS NEAR BOWLING GREEN
A man identified as Phillip Smith, aged 34, from Hollin Bridge Street in Blackburn, has pleaded guilty to charges of indecent exposure and possession of cannabis.The incident occurred near Green Park bowling greens in Blackburn, where Smith exposed himself indecently to two teenage girls aged 15 and 16.
The court heard that Smith walked past the victims twice while performing a sex act and subsequently made a lewd comment, asking, 'Do you like this girls?' The girls responded by running away screaming, and Smith attempted to chase them with his trousers still around his ankles, which impeded his pursuit.
A group of young men intervened during the incident, and one of them managed to take a photograph of Smith, leading to his identification.
It was revealed that Smith has a criminal record with five previous convictions for exposure offences.
Prosecutor Zulekha Bhuta told the court that Smith was remanded in custody for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.
The court was also informed that Smith suffers from anxiety and depression, for which he is medicated.
