PHILLIP LUSH AND SHOCKING SEXUAL ASSAULT IN FAREHAM AND TITCHFIELD

A disturbing incident unfolded in the town of Fareham, where a woman was unexpectedly awakened to find herself being raped in the comfort of what should have been her safe space. The victim, who was asleep at the time, was left profoundly affected by the traumatic experience inflicted upon her.

According to court reports, the woman had attended a social outing with 28-year-old Phillip Lush earlier that evening. After spending time together, they returned to Lush’s residence in Whiteley Lane, Titchfield, where they decided to watch a film. As the night progressed, the woman fell into sleep, unaware of the impending assault. It was during this vulnerable moment that Lush committed the act of sexual assault without her consent, an act that has left her emotionally scarred.

Lush, residing at Whiteley Lane, Titchfield, vehemently denied the charges brought against him. Despite his denial, a jury deliberated over seven days before reaching a guilty verdict on November 22 of the previous year. Following this verdict, Lush appeared before Portsmouth Crown Court, where he was sentenced to five years in prison. Additionally, he was ordered to register on the Sex Offenders Register for the remainder of his life.

Lynn Levett, an investigator from the police force, publicly commented on the case, highlighting the severity of the crime. “The woman was asleep when Lush raped her for his own self-gratification,” she stated. “His actions demonstrated a complete disregard for her wellbeing, and this incident has profoundly impacted her.” She also praised the victim’s bravery in coming forward, acknowledging the strength it took to report such a distressing incident and to see the legal process through.

Police officials reiterated their commitment to addressing sexual crimes with seriousness and dedication. Detective Levett encouraged victims or anyone who suspects they have been subjected to sexual abuse to reach out via the non-emergency number 101. She assured that specially trained officers are available to listen in a confidential setting and support victims throughout the criminal justice process. Furthermore, acknowledging that not everyone may feel comfortable interacting directly with law enforcement, the police also recommended that victims seek assistance from independent support agencies, which are equipped to provide necessary help and guidance.
