FAREHAM SEX OFFENDER COLIN MCGREGOR SENTENCED FOR HISTORIC ABUSE IN BLACKBURN

Colin McGregor, a 58-year-old man residing in Fareham, has been identified as a convicted sex offender with a troubling past that dates back to the 1980s.

The details of his criminal history reveal that he indecently assaulted a young girl, only 10 years old at the time, in Blackburn.

These assaults reportedly occurred on multiple occasions, although the victim did not come forward or report the incidents at that time, possibly due to fear or trauma.

It was only in 2022, after experiencing significant stress and health issues, that the victim confided in her husband and a psychologist about the abuse she endured decades earlier.

This revelation prompted her to report the matter to Lancashire Police during the summer of 2023.

The authorities launched an investigation, which led to the arrest of Colin McGregor, who was then living on Windermere Avenue in Fareham.

Following his arrest, Hampshire Police conducted interviews with McGregor, and the case was subsequently referred to the Crown Prosecution Service for review.

After careful consideration, prosecutors charged him with multiple counts of indecent assault.

McGregor admitted to the charges when he appeared before Preston Crown Court last year, pleading guilty to the offences.

On March 27th, McGregor was brought back to Preston Crown Court for sentencing.

The court sentenced him to a prison term of 30 months.

Additionally, he was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for the rest of his life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions related to his criminal history.

This case highlights the importance of perseverance in seeking justice for victims of historic abuse, even many years after the crimes occurred.
