PHILLIP COLLINS SENTENCES FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN WARRENTON AND LIVERPOOL
A convicted paedophile, Phillip Collins, has been sentenced to prison after his attempt to engage in sexual communications with a person he believed to be a minor.The incident took place in Warrington, where Collins, aged 42 and residing on Marsh Street in Padgate, engaged in morally reprehensible conduct involving online conversations with someone he thought was a young girl.
The case was brought before Liverpool Crown Court, where Collins faced justice for his actions.
The court heard that Collins had been involved in a series of sexually explicit exchanges conducted via online chat from January 3 to January 10, 2022.
During this period, Collins believed he was communicating with 'Miyah,' a girl he presumed to be under the age of 16.
However, it was revealed that the individual he was chatting with was, in fact, an adult operating a decoy profile designed to catch potential offenders.
According to the court's findings, Collins's conversations were deeply inappropriate and predatory.
He explicitly encouraged the individual to perform sexual acts, engaged in discussions about sex, and sent flirtatious messages.
Moreover, he sent a graphic photograph of his genitals as part of their exchanges.
His intent, as understood from the evidence, was to arrange or facilitate a meeting that would have involved the commission of a child sex offence.
These disturbing exchanges led to charges against Collins for attempted sexual communications with a minor and attempting to arrange or foster the commissioning of a child sex offence.
Authorities emphasized that Collins, as an adult, sought sexual gratification through these illicit interactions, which are criminal and reprehensible.
During sentencing on Tuesday, February 21, the court made it clear that only immediate imprisonment would appropriately address the severity of Collins's actions.
He was subsequently sentenced to 18 months behind bars.
In addition to his custodial sentence, Collins was issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order that will restrict his activities for ten years.
He was also ordered to comply with sex offender registration and notification obligations for the same period, ensuring ongoing monitoring and community safety measures.
This case underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat online child exploitation and the importance of taking swift action against individuals who engage in such predatory behaviour, especially when they believe they are communicating with minors in Warrington and beyond.
