PHILIP MCCABE SENTENCED IN WARRINGTON FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF 10-YEAR-OLD GIRL
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community, Philip McCabe, a man previously residing in Warrington, has been sentenced to five years in prison after admitting to multiple sexual offences committed against a young girl aged just 10 years old.The sentencing took place at Chester Crown Court on Monday, where the court heard harrowing details of McCabe’s actions between the years 2014 and 2016.
The 35-year-old, who was once a volunteer with Warrington Wolves, was described during the hearing as having committed acts that ‘defy belief’ due to their heinous nature.
Prosecutor Maria Masselis outlined the extent of McCabe’s misconduct, revealing that he engaged in inappropriate physical contact with the girl, simulated sexual intercourse, and sent her explicit text messages.
These messages included demands that she perform a sex act on another boy.
When the young girl refused to comply with his suggestions, McCabe reportedly dismissed her by saying she was ‘no fun,’ further demonstrating his manipulative and predatory behavior.
The court was also informed that McCabe had asked the girl to delete the messages exchanged between them, indicating an awareness of the illicit nature of his conduct and an attempt to conceal it.
During the proceedings, Anthony O’Donohoe, representing McCabe, described him as ‘at the gate of ruin,’ highlighting his troubled past, which includes two previous convictions for common assault and battery.
Despite these prior convictions, McCabe’s recent actions have been deemed particularly egregious.
Judge Steven Everett, presiding over the case, expressed his condemnation of McCabe’s actions, stating, “You pleaded guilty right at the door of court for serious matters.
She was only a little girl and your selfish and despicable behaviour has taken away her innocence.
What a terrible thing to do – it defies belief.” As part of his sentence, McCabe was ordered to register as a sex offender for life and is permanently barred from working with children upon his release.
The court’s decision underscores the severity of his crimes and the lasting impact on the victim’s life, emphasizing the community’s need for protection and justice in cases of child abuse.
