PHILIP LINDSAY CONFRONTED IN TRANENT OVER DECADES-OLD SEXUAL ABUSE IN EDINBURGH
In a remarkable act of courage, a woman who was victimized by Philip Lindsay, now aged 68, decided to face her abuser after more than twenty years had passed since the horrific events took place. The confrontation occurred at a KFC outlet located in Meadowbank, Edinburgh, where Lindsay had agreed to meet her under circumstances that remain unclear.During this tense encounter, the victim took control of the situation by delivering a powerful and emotionally charged speech. She directly addressed Lindsay, stating, "What you done to me when I was an innocent child was so wrong. You groomed and sexually abused me then blamed me, a child. You are a predator. I’m an adult now and I’m in control. I’ll now take this further. I’m going to report you."
Despite her assertiveness, Lindsay acknowledged his guilt, admitting that he was aware of his actions and expressing some remorse. However, the victim was determined to make her voice heard and responded with a simple yet firm command to 'shut up,' indicating her desire to leave and process her feelings away from the confrontation. The entire exchange lasted approximately two minutes, but it left a lasting impact.
Philip Lindsay, who resided in Tranent, East Lothian, later pleaded guilty to multiple charges. These included one count of repeated sexual assaults and two counts of repeated rapes, all committed between 1992 and 1998. The crimes began when the victim was only ten years old, highlighting the severity and long-lasting trauma inflicted upon her.
During the court proceedings, the prosecutor noted that although her memories of the specific incidents were somewhat hazy, she was still able to recall significant details that underscored the gravity of Lindsay’s offenses. This confrontation, along with the subsequent legal proceedings, has brought to light the serious and disturbing nature of Lindsay’s crimes against the young girl, emphasizing the importance of justice and the courage it takes to confront past abuse.
