PHILIP GREEN FROM ST HELENS ESCAPES JAIL AFTER DISCOVERY OF NEARLY 107,000 CHILD INDECENT IMAGES

In a case that has shocked the community of St Helens, Philip Green was found to possess an alarming number of indecent images of children, totaling nearly 107,000 files stored across multiple devices. Despite the severity of the evidence, Green was spared a custodial sentence and instead received a community order, highlighting the complexities and debates surrounding sentencing in such cases.

According to court proceedings at Liverpool Crown Court, authorities uncovered a substantial collection of illicit material on Green’s computers. The forensic investigation focused on three storage devices, but it was revealed that Green’s hard drives had the capacity to hold millions of such images. The analysis uncovered a disturbing array of photographs and videos depicting children as young as three years old, emphasizing the grave nature of the offense.

Prosecutor Derek Jones detailed that Green’s possession of these images spanned many years, indicating a long-standing and entrenched addiction to viewing such material. Despite the evidence, Green maintained his innocence, denying that he viewed the images for sexual gratification. The court heard that Green’s activities contributed to a vast and illegal global industry centered around the exploitation of minors.

Judge Robert Trevor-Jones, presiding over the case, delivered a stern judgment but opted against a custodial sentence. Instead, he imposed a three-year community order, requiring Green to participate in a sex offenders’ rehabilitation program. Additionally, Green was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register and was subject to a ten-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, reflecting the serious concerns about public safety and the potential risk posed by Green’s actions.

Green had pleaded guilty to three charges related to downloading child pornography and one charge of possessing such images. The police executed a raid on his residence located on Highfield Street, Peasley Cross, on June 16 of the previous year. During the raid, officers seized his computer and numerous hard drives, which were subsequently analyzed.

The forensic report revealed a total of 106,737 images across three categories of severity, with the majority classified as the least serious. Some images had been sourced from newsgroups and other online platforms, indicating a deliberate effort to access and store such material.

Green’s legal representative, Mr. Scholes, highlighted that Green has no prior convictions and that his wife, who was unaware of his activities, continues to support him. It was also noted that Green had previously struggled with significant weight issues but has since lost 50 percent of his body weight. However, he is currently dealing with health complications following recent surgery, adding a layer of complexity to his rehabilitation prospects.
