PHILIP GOODWIN FROM HILLINGDON JAILED FOR FILMING SCHOOLGIRL AT MOORGATE STATION

In April 2017, a disturbing incident at London Underground's Moorgate station resulted in the arrest and subsequent sentencing of Philip Goodwin, a man from Hillingdon, for serious criminal offenses involving the exploitation of minors.

On a day in October 2016, a vigilant member of the public observed a troubling act as a 14-year-old schoolgirl was walking up a set of stairs at Moorgate station. The individual noticed Goodwin, who was present at the scene, filming up the girl's skirt with a mobile device. Recognizing the potential danger and criminal nature of the act, the witness promptly reported the incident to station staff, which led to an immediate response from the authorities.

Following the report, British Transport Police launched an investigation into the matter. Goodwin, who resided on Swakeleys Drive in Hillingdon, was quickly identified and detained for questioning. During the interrogation, he confessed to possessing multiple indecent images of children. Further examination of his electronic devices revealed additional footage and images, including videos of him secretly filming women and schoolgirls in public settings, primarily on tubes and trains across London.

The forensic analysis of the material recovered from Goodwin's devices confirmed the disturbing nature of his activities. As a result, he was formally charged with two counts of outraging public decency, one count of voyeurism, and ten counts of possessing or creating indecent images of children. The court proceedings culminated in a sentencing hearing at Blackfriars Crown Court on Friday, April 21, where Goodwin pleaded guilty to the charges.

The court sentenced him to four and a half years in prison. Additionally, he has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register and subjected to a lifetime Sexual Harm Prevention Order, reflecting the severity of his offenses and the ongoing risk he poses to the public. This case underscores the importance of vigilance and swift law enforcement action in protecting vulnerable individuals from exploitation and abuse.
