PHILIP FELLINGER'S SHOCKING SEX ABUSE AT WESTCOTT PRIMARY IN HULL COSTS CITY COUNCIL £100,000 IN DAMAGES
In a disturbing case that has left a lasting scar on a young girl’s life, Hull City Council has been compelled to pay out £100,000 in damages to a woman who was sexually assaulted during her time at Westcott Primary School in east Hull during the 1990s.The victim, who has chosen to remain anonymous for legal reasons, filed a claim against the council after enduring repeated sexual abuse at the hands of Philip Fellinger, a teaching assistant at the school.
The assault began when she was just seven years old and continued for approximately two years, leaving her with emotional and psychological trauma that persisted well into her adult life.
Expressing her anguish, the woman recounted her experience, stating, “I was just a girl, only seven years old.
I was a confused little girl and I had it for more or less two years.
What he did has always, always taken over my life.” Her words underscore the profound and lasting impact of the abuse she suffered.
Fellinger’s criminal actions came to light when he was convicted of six counts of indecent assault, involving the girl and other children at Hull Crown Court.
In July 1994, he was sentenced to nine months in prison for his crimes.
Despite his conviction, the woman revealed that she continued to live in fear, worried that Fellinger might return to punish her for her role in exposing his misconduct.
Her testimony highlights the ongoing psychological toll inflicted by the abuse.
The court documents detailed that Fellinger subjected the vulnerable young girl to repeated acts of sexual abuse of a “cruel nature” over an 18-month period.
The case has also been associated with long-term psychological issues for the victim, illustrating the deep and enduring scars left by such trauma.
