A man from Derby has been snared in a sting and sentenced after disturbing online chats with what he believed was a child.

Philip Baker was first flagged in July 2023, when London Overwatch passed evidence of his conversations with decoys to Derbyshire Police.

That evidence enabled officers to track him down, arrest him, and bring him before the courts.

On 26th March, Baker was sentenced to a tough package of penalties: 21 months imprisonment, suspended for 2 years 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) 10 years on the Sex Offenders Register 45 programme days 30 rehabilitation activity days While he escaped immediate prison, Baker will remain under strict monitoring and rehabilitation controls for the next decade.
