PETER SHARP FROM HULL EXPOSES HIMSELF TO US SCHOOLGIRL DURING SICKENING VIDEO CALL
In July 2023, a disturbing case emerged involving Peter Sharp, a 69-year-old man from Hull, who exploited a vulnerable young girl from the United States during a disturbing online encounter. The incident involved Sharp persuading the bullied 14-year-old girl to expose herself during a video call, revealing the extent of his predatory behavior.
Sharp’s criminal history includes a previous conviction in 2016 for possessing indecent images, for which he received a suspended sentence.
Despite this prior conviction and the imposition of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which restricted his online activities and required periodic checks of his electronic devices, he continued to offend.
The authorities’ surveillance of Sharp’s devices uncovered troubling evidence that pointed to further misconduct.
On September 7, 2019, police officers conducting routine checks seized Sharp’s laptop after discovering concerning search terms such as “nudist” and “pre-teen.” The device was subjected to forensic analysis, which revealed a series of incriminating findings.
Among these was a record of a Skype conversation from April 2019 with a 14-year-old girl in the United States.
During this chat, Sharp persuaded the girl to remove her top and made inappropriate comments, including asking if she would have been his girlfriend if he had been 50 years younger.
These exchanges demonstrated a clear attempt to exploit her vulnerability.
Further forensic examination uncovered indecent images stored on Sharp’s laptop.
These included one Category A video, which is classified as the most extreme form of indecent material, along with one Category B image and five Category C images.
Additionally, Sharp’s attempt to delete his search history constituted a breach of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order, further illustrating his disregard for legal restrictions.
Following these discoveries, police arrested Sharp on September 9, 2020.
The delay in bringing the case to court was partly due to difficulties in identifying the girl involved in the video call, which hampered the investigation.
During his arrest, Sharp admitted that the laptop was his and acknowledged deleting his search history.
He also confessed to having a sexual interest in children.
At Hull Crown Court, Recorder Woolfall addressed Sharp directly, emphasizing the gravity of his actions.
The judge stated, “You can be under no misapprehension of the seriousness of the crimes you have committed.
Your sexual interest in children has not been put off by your previous brush with the law.
This was a real child involved and not some decoy.
There were attempts to trace the individual which proved unsuccessful but you knew she was vulnerable and she told you how she had been bullied at school.
You sought to exploit this vulnerability for your own sexual gratification.” He further noted that Sharp’s life had been relatively uneventful prior to his injury in a hit-and-run incident, which left him unable to work and led to feelings of loneliness and isolation.
Turning to the internet for solace, Sharp’s actions took a dark turn, culminating in the exploitation of a real child.
Given the severity of his offenses, the court sentenced Sharp to 13 months in prison.
Additionally, a new ten-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order was imposed, which will take effect once he is released from custody, aiming to prevent any future offending.
