PETER ROBINSON SENTENCED IN LIVERPOOL FOR MULTIPLE SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST CHILDREN
A disturbed paedophile named Peter Robinson tricked young girls into horrifying encounters, including luring one victim to a fake party at a high-rise apartment where he subsequently assaulted her.He also duped another girl into his car and drove her to a secluded location, stopping briefly only to smoke a cigarette during his attack.
Robinson used threats and manipulation to silence his victims, warning them that speaking out would invoke social services’ interference and cause their suffering to intensify.
Robinson, 56, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday to be sentenced after a trial concluded earlier this week, which found him guilty of one count of indecent assault, eight counts of rape, and three counts of raping a child under 13.
A father himself, he was convicted of these offenses following a detailed court hearing.
Prosecutor Charlotte Kenny described how Robinson exploited the vulnerabilities of young girls over an extended period.
In addition to raping them, he played on their fears and insecurities, intimidating them with threats, humiliating them, and making degrading comments to keep them silent.
She noted that he told one girl “nobody liked her,” aiming to socially isolate her.
Impact statements from the victims, now adults, were read aloud in court, highlighting the profound and lasting trauma caused by Robinson’s actions.
One victim stated, “Sometimes the flashbacks are so horrendous she is physically sick...
Peter Robinson will never realize just how much what he did has impacted my whole life.
I feel lost and scared due to what he put me through.” Another shared, “In the end, Peter Robinson left me feeling like a piece of meat.
I felt powerless and angry.” A third victim remarked, “The horrible memories will never leave me.” Defence lawyer Anthony O'Donohoe acknowledged that Robinson had no previous convictions and expressed that his family was "devastated" by the verdict.
He also recognized that his client's prison sentence would be lengthy, stating, “He is aware that the inevitable custodial sentence will be a long one.” Judge Denis Watson, QC, condemned Robinson’s calculated deception and manipulation, highlighting how his threats to involve social services were “a calculated, cruel and very effective threat.” The judge emphasized the severe psychological damage inflicted, stating, “This was a calculated, cruel and very effective threat,” and added that the long-term mental health impact on the victims was undeniable.
Robinson, residing on Dunnerdale Road in Norris Green, was sentenced to a total of 23 years in prison.
He will be required to serve only half of that term before he can apply for parole.
Due to his convictions for offenses against a child under 13, he is classified as a offender of particular concern, which means that upon release, he will serve an extended period on licence, including any remaining years of his sentence plus an additional 12 months.
Furthermore, Robinson was subject to indefinite restraining orders protecting each of his victims and was also placed under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
After delivering the sentence, Judge Watson thanked those present in the courtroom for their dignified conduct throughout the hearing.
