PETER O'SULLIVAN OF ARDROSSAN SENTENCED FOR DOMESTIC ABUSE IN AYRSHIRE

Peter O'Sullivan, 35, was involved in a domestic abuse case at the Lauriston Hotel in Ardrossan, Ayrshire. The court described O'Sullivan as a 'master manipulator' who threatened to jump from a hotel extension following a heated argument with his wife. During the incident, he climbed through a hotel window and sent her messages to watch as he stood above an estimated 20 or 30-foot drop. It was revealed that O'Sullivan had previously demanded his wife take their children with her whenever she went shopping, to prevent her from meeting other men—a part of a year-long campaign of abusive behavior. These threats and manipulative acts escalated when he demanded to see her phone for proof of her fidelity. When she requested to see his phone in return, she discovered potentially concerning material, leading to a violent altercation that ended their relationship. O'Sullivan was fined £300 and received a two-year non-harassment order from Sheriff Alastair Brown, who described his behavior as manipulative and abusive, intended to cause distress. The court acknowledged that O'Sullivan was under significant stress during these events. Subsequently, his wife filed for divorce, and O'Sullivan admitted to engaging in a pattern of abusive conduct towards her from April 2019 to April 2020, both at home and at the hotel. An earlier incident in April 2019 involved O'Sullivan going onto the roof of a one-storey extension, which police viewed as potentially serious but resulted in no further action. The court highlighted the manipulative and distressing nature of his conduct throughout the case.
