PETER MOORE FROM CARDIFF SENTENCED AFTER VIEWING CHILD ABUSE MATERIALS ON LAST NIGHT BEFORE JAIL
In May 2018, a disturbing case emerged involving Peter Moore, a man from Cardiff, who was found to have engaged in viewing indecent images of young girls just hours before he was scheduled to begin a prison sentence.The incident has raised serious concerns about the behavior of offenders even in the moments leading up to incarceration.
Peter Moore, aged 52 at the time, had previously been sentenced to 18 months in prison in December of the previous year after police investigations uncovered nearly 1,500 indecent images of children stored on various electronic devices belonging to him.
The discovery of such a large collection of illicit material prompted a warrant to be executed at his residence in Pentrebane, Cardiff, where authorities seized multiple computers and tablets for further examination.
During the search, law enforcement officials uncovered a total of 13 indecent images of children, including one categorized as a Category B image depicting a 14-year-old girl.
The investigation also revealed a disturbing array of search terms associated with child abuse, such as “pre-teen naked under 12,” “young-looking girl models under 14,” and “Daddy’s girl.” Additionally, bookmarks to websites containing indecent images were found on Moore’s devices, indicating deliberate and ongoing interest in such material.
The case was brought before Cardiff Crown Court, where a sentencing hearing took place on a Friday.
It was revealed that Moore had been released from prison on February 1 and was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possessing indecent images of children.
During police interviews, Moore claimed that his curiosity had driven him to view the images while on bail, between his conviction and sentencing.
He denied having any sexual interest in children, asserting that his actions were driven by curiosity rather than predatory intent.
Prosecutor Jennie Yeo emphasized that the case involved multiple victims, all of whom were relatively young, underscoring the severity of Moore’s actions.
As part of his original sentence, Moore was subjected to a sexual harm prevention order and was required to sign the sexual offenders’ register for a period of ten years.
The court also considered his current circumstances, as Moore, who was formerly residing in Pentrebane, was now held at HMP Usk.
In addition to his previous sentence, Moore was sentenced to an additional 12 months imprisonment, to be served consecutively to his existing term.
The court’s decision reflects the gravity of his offenses and the ongoing concern about the safety of vulnerable children in the community.
