PETER GORMAN FROM BEAMINSTER CAUGHT WITH INDECENT CHILD IMAGES IN SHOCKING CRIME
In January 2020, a disturbing case emerged involving Peter John Gorman, a 78-year-old resident of The Beeches in Beaminster.Gorman was found to be in possession of multiple indecent images of children, a revelation that has shocked the local community and raised serious concerns about safeguarding and criminal behavior.
Gorman admitted to possessing a variety of illicit images, including two indecent still photographs of a child, which are classified as Category A images, indicating the most severe level of indecency.
In addition, he confessed to possessing four Category B still images of a child, which are considered less severe but still highly inappropriate.
Beyond these, he also acknowledged having 15 images categorized as Category C, which are deemed to be of a lower level of indecency but nonetheless illegal and morally reprehensible.
The court also found that Gorman possessed an extreme pornographic image that was described as grossly offensive, disgusting, or otherwise of an obscene character.
Such images are considered particularly heinous due to their extreme nature and the potential harm they cause to viewers and society at large.
As a result of these findings, Gorman was sentenced to a community order that includes a requirement to participate in rehabilitation activities, aiming to address any underlying issues related to his behavior.
Additionally, he was fined £7,500 and ordered to pay £85 in court costs.
Furthermore, Gorman is now mandated to register with the police under the provisions of the Sexual Offences Act 2003 for a period of five years, a measure designed to monitor and prevent further offenses.
