PETER DEIGHTON SHIPLEY MAN CAUGHT IN SEXUAL ACT INVOLVING 15-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN WALES

In a case that has shocked the local community of Shipley, a 23-year-old man named Peter Deighton has been sentenced for his involvement in a disturbing incident involving a teenage girl. The incident took place on January 3 of the previous year, when Deighton was at a friend’s residence in Shipley. According to court proceedings, Deighton used a headset connected to an Xbox gaming console to observe a 15-year-old girl who was posing in her underwear in Wales. The court heard that Deighton engaged in a sexual act while watching the girl, an act that was witnessed by his friend who was awakened in the early hours of the morning.

Prosecutor Michael Smith detailed that Deighton’s friend was surprised to find Deighton performing a sexual act on himself while viewing the girl on the Xbox. The girl, who was described as vulnerable and involved with Social Services, was not aware that Deighton was watching her or that he was engaging in such conduct. It was emphasized during the hearing that Deighton did not know the girl personally, and she had initiated the sexual activity, which added a layer of complexity to the case.

Deighton, who resides on Crag Road in the Windhill area of Shipley, pleaded guilty to charges of causing a child to watch a sexual act. His solicitor, John Bottomley, characterized the incident as impulsive and noted that Deighton was unaware of the girl’s background or circumstances. The court was informed that Deighton has a troubled past, including previous convictions for burglary and assault, which paint a picture of a young man with a history of criminal behavior. However, it was also mentioned that Deighton is currently in a relationship that provides him with stability and support.

Judge Colin Burn delivered the sentence, which included a two-year community order with supervision. As part of his rehabilitation, Deighton is required to participate in the Sex Offender Treatment Programme and complete 150 hours of unpaid community service. Additionally, he is mandated to register as a sex offender with the police for a period of seven years. A Sexual Harm Prevention Order has also been imposed, restricting his access to computer equipment for the same duration. Judge Burn clarified that while Deighton is not considered a sexual predator, he should have recognized that his actions with the girl were wrong and inappropriate, given his status as an adult. The case underscores the importance of accountability and the need for appropriate measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
