PETER BROCK FROM SWANSEA SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE IN YNYSFORGAN
In a disturbing case that has shocked the Swansea community, Peter Brock, a 60-year-old resident of Ynysforgan, has been formally sentenced following a prolonged series of sexual assaults against a young child. The heinous acts took place over several years, during which the victim was between the ages of 9 and 11, highlighting the grave breach of trust and safety.Peter Brock was convicted on seven counts of sexual touching and inciting a child under the age of 13 to engage in sexual acts. The court heard that the abuse was not a single incident but a pattern of predatory behavior that spanned multiple years, causing lasting trauma to the young victim. The details of the case reveal a calculated effort by Brock to manipulate and silence the child, employing tactics designed to prevent disclosure of the abuse.
Following the assaults, Brock attempted to exert control over the victim by using manipulative language and tactics, aiming to make the child feel responsible for what had happened. It was only after many years that the victim found the courage to come forward and disclose the abuse, a testament to their resilience and bravery in the face of ongoing trauma.
Despite Brock’s plea of not guilty during the trial, the court found sufficient evidence to impose a significant sentence. He was sentenced to 13 years in prison, a punishment reflecting the severity of his crimes. Additionally, Brock is now subject to a restraining order that prohibits him from contacting or approaching the victim, ensuring their safety moving forward. He is also under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which imposes restrictions aimed at preventing any future offending behavior.
Furthermore, Brock will be registered as a sex offender for life, a measure intended to monitor and manage his conduct long-term. The case was overseen by Detective Constable Zowie Martin, who commented on the gravity of the situation: “Peter Brock carried out a chilling pattern of behaviour against a defenceless child. To worsen the situation, the child was made to feel responsible for the abuse due to words spoken by Brock, in a bid to avoid repercussions. We commend the victim’s bravery in speaking out after years of silent suffering. Our hope is that they will now live free from fear of Brock.”
