ALTRINCHAM MAN PETER BRAILSFORD CAUGHT FILMING SEX ACTS AND GROOMING YOUNG GIRLS IN TRAFFORD AND SALE

In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community, Peter Brailsford, a 45-year-old resident of Altrincham, has been implicated in a series of indecent acts involving young girls and women across Trafford and Sale. The incident came to light after Brailsford, who owns an IT firm, was caught engaging in highly inappropriate behavior while sitting in his blue Audi, often under the influence of alcohol or cannabis, as he watched and targeted vulnerable individuals in public spaces.

The court heard that Brailsford’s disturbing activities began with an online obsession with teenage pornography. Over time, his interests escalated from virtual material to real-life encounters, where he sought out young girls in local parks and public areas. His actions included filming himself performing sex acts while simultaneously ogling young girls, a pattern that he continued over a period of several years.

His criminal behavior was further compounded by his visits to ‘exhibitionist’ websites, which featured videos of individuals engaging in similar acts. Motivated by these online influences, Brailsford started recording his own sick acts, capturing footage on his mobile phone. Police investigations revealed that he had made at least five videos of himself, none of which had been uploaded to the internet, but which served as evidence of his ongoing misconduct.

One particularly alarming incident involved a woman who, upon witnessing Brailsford with his trousers undone and him exposing himself, was so horrified that she took note of his car’s license plate. This led to his eventual arrest. When police arrived at his residence on Stanley Drive in Timperley, Brailsford admitted to having watched girls approximately 25 times over a span of three years, with incidents occurring both in Trafford and in Lymm, Cheshire.

During the court proceedings at Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court, it was revealed that Brailsford’s actions extended beyond targeting young girls. He also engaged in inappropriate behavior with older teenagers and women, often while intoxicated. Prosecutor Maria Brannan stated that Brailsford believed the children would not be offended or shocked because they had been exposed to similar content on the internet. She explained that initially, Brailsford did not believe he was being observed, as he kept his car windows closed, but as his confidence grew, he began speaking to his victims and openly exposing himself.

His crimes took place in various locations around Trafford, including Stamford Park, as well as on Northenden Road and Homelands Road in Sale. The court heard that Brailsford expressed feelings of shame and described himself as being “close to being a broken man,” indicating remorse for his actions.

Despite his remorse, Judge Jonathan Foster QC ordered an adjournment to allow police more time to examine Brailsford’s computers and digital devices. The judge warned that a custodial sentence was a real possibility, and Brailsford is scheduled to be sentenced on March 22. In the meantime, he has been banned from entering within 100 yards of any school, a restriction designed to prevent further harm and protect the community from his predatory behavior.
