Prosecutor Owen explained that his focus then shifted to a younger girl – a girl who recalled being sexually abused by Bingham shortly before her ninth birthday.
This indicates a pattern of behavior that persisted over several years and multiple victims.
One of the victims, now an adult woman, read a statement aloud in court, vividly describing her painful memories of the abuse.
She revealed that she resorted to self-harm in an attempt to obliterate her suffering, expressing a desire to destroy her body so that no man would ever want to touch it again.
She further shared her ongoing struggles with accepting kindness, fearing that any gesture of affection might have ulterior motives rooted in her past trauma.
Her testimony also highlighted that she had attempted to suppress her painful memories as a means of self-protection.
Nonetheless, the recent trial brought those memories flooding back, leaving her terrified at the prospect of encountering her abuser in court or elsewhere.
