The charge involved 65,131 indecent images and 336 movie files. Some of the images were of the most extreme kind, including either/or penetrative sex, sadism or animal abuse. He was dismissed for gross misconduct at today’s hearing the Metropolitan Police’s Empress State Building, having been found to “undermine public confidence” in the force. Ba Han failed to attend the 10-minute hearing. Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley, chairing the meeting, said: “We believe he had been found to bring the police service into disrepute. “The public has the right to trust officers. “My position is that Peter Ba Han should be dismissed without notice.” A character commendation compiled by acting borough commander Tony Enoch was presented to the committee, which the chair acknowledged had some “positive comments”. Deputy Assistant Commissioner Richard Martin of the Met’s Professionalism Command said:”Ba Han’s abhorrent behaviour has been exposed and he has rightfully been dismissed from the Met. “The Met has robust checks in place to identify officers and staff whose behaviour falls below the required standard and those who do will be held to account through the appropriate channels. “In Ba Han’s case this has meant a conviction through the criminal courts and dismissal from his job at the earliest opportunity.” Ba Han will be sentenced at Kingston Crown Court on Thursday, March 23.  February 2017 Policeman admits downloading 65,000 child abuse images A Metropolitan Police officer has admitted downloading more than 65,000 indecent images of children. PC Peter Ba-Han, 55, pleaded guilty at Southwark Crown Court to one count of making indecent images of children. In total Ba Han had 65,131 illegal files which included 11 films and 999 category A images – the most serious category which involved children being raped or tortured – stashed on three different devices. Ba-Han said he did not know what the images were “at the time of downloading”. Sentencing will take place on 23 March. Judge Andrew Goymer said Ba-Han could expect a prison sentence. “This quantity of images, albeit there may be some element of copying from one computer or another, is going to put it at the top end of the sentencing range,” the Judge said. Ba-Han, of Dawley, in Shropshire, was suspended from duty after police seized a computer and external hard drives from his home in May 2013. Nicholas Yeo, defending, said his client would “inevitably” lose his job as a Met officer. Ba-Han was placed on conditional bail until sentencing.
