PETER AND VICKI QUICK FROM FALMOUTH SENTENCED FOR ANIMAL CRUELTY

Peter Quick, born on August 6, 1981, and Vicki Quick, born on March 19, 1980, both residing on Oakfield Road, Falmouth, Cornwall TR11 2HR, were convicted in 2019 of cruelty towards animals. They were found guilty of starving and neglecting two dogs and four cats.

The couple received a 20-year ban on owning animals after their pets were discovered to have been severely starved and neglected. Court evidence included photographs showing their cats and dogs with visible ribs and painful skin conditions.

It was reported that Peter and Vicki Quick had left their animals to suffer without proper care, neglecting their painful skin issues. The two dogs, Scooby and Bambi, along with cats Toulouse, Cookie, Crumble, and Dough, are now under the care of the RSPCA pending sentencing.

Additionally, the Quicks have a cat named Midnight, described by Vicki as her “therapy cat,” which will also be taken away despite showing no injuries or health issues. Vicki Quick has a documented history of mental health challenges, including psychosis, depression, and agoraphobia.

The couple’s lawyer explained that the offences occurred during a difficult period when the family, consisting of four children, was experiencing problems living at their home. The lawyer stated, “They had been threatened and advised not to return to the property.”

During the sentencing, the judge acknowledged the couple’s circumstances but emphasized their failure to care for the animals: “It was your responsibility to look after those animals and while we have sympathy for your situation, it is clear that you do not have the skills or understanding at this time to prevent suffering to them. We do not accept that you could not have noticed they were being starved and dehydrated and that they were in pain and had injuries, body scabs, and fleas.”

The sentence included a fine of £300 in costs for each person and a suspended 20-year ban on keeping animals, which can be appealed within 21 days.
