Pawel Twardowicz

Wester Hailes, Edinburgh Animal Abuser

CONVICTED (2024) | Pawel Twardowicz, born 21 January 1982, previously of Rennies Isle, Leith, Edinburgh EH6 6QA and more recently Handyside Place, Edinburgh EH11 1ZH – caught on camera torturing a cat on multiple occasions. During a campaign of domestic abuse, vicious thug Twardowicz was caught carrying out horrific attacks on family pet DJ (pictured). The footage, captured on a cat-cam, showed hotel maintenance worker Twardowicz attacking the defenceless cat by repeatedly battering him to the face and body. On one occasion he locked the terrified animal in a crate and violently shook it for a prolonged period. The footage was so distressing that a sheriff agreed to allow some court staff to leave the room before it was played to the court. Polish national Twardowicz, who needed an interpreter in court, also assaulted his former girlfriend, Paulina Wilk. He repeatedly shouted and swore at the woman, demanded she obey him, uttered sexual comments towards her and commented on her appearance and the clothes she wore. He would repeatedly contact her when she was out with friends, track her movements and accuse her of infidelity. The court complaint also stated Twardowicz seized Ms Wilk by the face and applied pressure, repeatedly struck her to the body, threatened to spit in her face and prevented her leaving their home by putting screws in the front door. Twardowicz admitted a charge of causing a protected animal unnecessary suffering between September 1 and December 6, 2023. He also pleaded guilty to engaging in a course of conduct that was abusive of his partner at three addresses in Edinburgh between November 1, 2020 and December 3, 2023 Defence agent Paul Dunne told the court his client had felt “totally emasculated” at the time of the offending due to losing his job. Sentencing | seven-year non-harassment order banning him from having contact with Paulina Wilk; four-month curfew; two-year supervision order; 260 hours of unpaid work; ordered to attend sessions with domestic abuse organisation Caledonian Men’s Programme. Banned from keeping animals for five years (expires November 2029). EdinburghLive
