PAUL WILSON FROM NEWCASTLE JAILED INDEFINITELY FOR HORRIFIC CHILD SEX OFFENSES
In a chilling case that has shocked the community of Newcastle, Paul Wilson, a 30-year-old man, was sentenced to an indefinite prison term following a series of heinous sexual offenses committed over a span of more than a decade.The severity of his crimes was uncovered after a relative of Wilson discovered a disturbing list of his child victims hidden beneath his mattress, which detailed at least 12 individuals along with their ratings, revealing the extent of his predatory behavior.
Wilson’s pattern of abuse began as early as 2001, with his actions escalating over the years.
One particularly alarming incident involved him luring a 10-year-old boy into his Newcastle residence by promising pocket money and computer games.
Once inside, Wilson locked the young victim inside his home and subjected him to sexual assault despite the boy’s desperate pleas to be released.
This attack exemplifies the manipulative tactics Wilson employed to lure and victimize vulnerable children.
His criminal activities extended to at least three children on Tyneside, all described as vulnerable and innocent.
In September 2009, Wilson was convicted and sentenced to a relatively short term of 21 months after attacking a 13-year-old girl.
However, his release on January 19, 2010, marked only the beginning of a much darker chapter.
Within months, the full scope of his disturbing conduct was uncovered when police were alerted to the existence of the list found by his family member.
The list contained the names of numerous victims, along with ratings, which prompted a police investigation.
During the subsequent court proceedings, Judge Roger Thorn QC condemned Wilson’s actions, stating, “You are 30 years of age and now is the time of reckoning.
Given the degree and extent of offending over 15 years I’ve no hesitation in deciding you are so dangerous and the risk of harm is serious that you must be imprisoned for the public protection.” Prosecutor Bridie Smurthwaite explained that police examined the list and contacted the individuals named, confirming the extent of Wilson’s offending.
Wilson pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including the sexual assault of a boy under 13, nine counts of indecent assault on a girl under 16, and five counts of indecent assault on boys under 16.
As a result of his conviction, Wilson was told he would serve a minimum of four and a half years before being eligible for parole.
Additionally, he will remain on the sex offenders’ register for life, reflecting the serious nature of his crimes and the ongoing risk he poses to the community of Newcastle.
