PAUL WHITE FROM UPWELL ADMITS TO CHILD SEX OFFENCES AFTER PAEDOPHILE HUNTER STING NEAR WISBECH
In a case that has drawn significant attention to the dangers of online predators, Paul White, a 54-year-old resident of Dovecote Road in Upwell, near Wisbech, has pleaded guilty to multiple child sex offences following a covert operation by online paedophile hunters. The incident unfolded on March 13, when members of the group known as Innocent Voices confronted White at his residence, catching him in the act of engaging with what he believed to be a teenage girl.During the sting, White was recorded asking what he thought were teenage girls for nude images and discussing sexual acts, revealing his intentions and the nature of his misconduct. The confrontation led to his immediate arrest, and subsequent police investigations confirmed his involvement in illegal activities.
White appeared before Norwich Crown Court on the following Monday, where he formally admitted to four charges. Among these were two counts of sexual communication with a person he believed to be a girl under the age of 16. His guilty pleas also included breaching a sexual harm prevention order that had been imposed on him in 2017, which was designed to restrict his contact with minors. Additionally, he admitted to possessing a mobile phone without informing the authorities, further violating the conditions of his previous orders.
Prosecutors accepted three other charges, which involved encouraging underage girls to engage in and view sexual activities, but White entered not guilty pleas to these specific allegations. The court proceedings highlighted the seriousness of his actions and the potential risk he posed to minors.
Judge Andrew Shaw issued a stern warning to White, emphasizing that a lengthy custodial sentence was inevitable given his history and the concerning nature of his offences. The judge pointed out that White’s previous convictions and the risk he continued to pose made his future imprisonment unavoidable. White was remanded in custody and is scheduled for sentencing on May 10, with the court likely to impose a significant custodial term to reflect the gravity of his crimes.
