MAN MADE FORMER PARTNER’S LIFE “HELL”
A man who inflicted a pattern of controlling and abusive behavior on his former partner has received a prison sentence of over two years.Martin Plaice, aged 50, displayed escalating threats and violent conduct toward his ex-partner following their breakup in March 2025.
Although he was subject to bail conditions from an earlier arrest that forbade contact or visits, Plaice repeatedly appeared at the victim’s residence and accused her of engaging in a relationship with someone else.
He continually made uninvited phone calls and sent texts containing threats and derogatory language.
Furthermore, he contacted the victim’s mother, demanding she put an end to her daughter’s new relationship.
Plaice also posted hostile messages about her on social media and sent an email warning her she might not survive into 2026.
On December 31, he left an envelope with two blank ammunition rounds attached to it, addressed to the victim and her new partner, on her doorstep.
At Peterborough Crown Court on July 2, Plaice, of Thurlands Drove, Upwell, near Wisbech, was sentenced to two years and four months in prison after admitting to controlling and coercive behavior within an intimate relationship.
