In August 2013, a disturbing case emerged involving Paul Smithies, a 48-year-old resident of Stockfield Mount in Chadderton, who was found guilty of multiple counts of indecent exposure. Smithies pleaded guilty before Bolton Magistrates to three separate charges of indecent exposure. The first incident occurred in Foxdenton Park, where he exposed himself to two young girls, both aged 14. Without warning, he appeared behind her and pulled down the waistband of his shorts, exposing himself in a blatant act of indecency. This incident underscored the ongoing threat to women exercising in public spaces and added to the community's concerns about safety.

Smithies is scheduled to be sentenced at Minshull Street Crown Court on Monday, September 23. The case has drawn significant attention from local residents and authorities alike, emphasizing the importance of vigilance and community safety in Chadderton.
