2016: MAN JAILED FOR SECRETLY FILMING WOMEN ON THE TOILET
A 43-year-old Worcester man who installed secret cameras to film women on the toilet has been jailed for four-and-a-half years.Paul Hunt was discovered after he tried to get a locksmith to help him get into the home of one of the women to install a camera in her toilet, Worcester Crown Court heard.
Police found 40 hours of film when they searched his address, all of it carefully catalogued and filed, and diaries showing he had had a fetish for women urinating since the age of 11.
Hunt, of Magdala Court, off the Butts, Worcester, pleaded guilty to trespass with intent to commit a sexual offence, namely voyeurism.
He also pleaded guilty to further charges of voyeurism relating to the concealed and camouflaged cameras he installed over the period of the offending.
At a sentencing hearing, Judge Robert Juckes, QC, said Hunt had filmed a number of women over a period of more than three years from July, 2012 to his arrest in January, 2016.
The cameras did not transmit but gathered recordings.
Some of the many women he filmed expressed feelings of disgust and revulsion, the judge said.
"This was serious repeated offending over three-and-a-half years but it did not end there," the judge said.
Hunt developed a particular obsession with a young woman and on January 26 he hired an unsuspecting locksmith with the intention of getting into her house.
He told the locksmith he was a friend of hers and he wanted to leave flowers but he was foiled by a neighbour who refused to listen to his explanation and the locksmith left.
Hunt had used his own car and police traced him.
"What you were plainly intent on doing was planting another camera in her lavatory," the judge told Hunt.
Police found five covert cameras at his home along with the hours of film he had catalogued and filed and the diaries he had kept since childhood.
A psychiatrist had described his obsession as a sexually based fetish, the court was told, and Hunt was said to present a continuing risk to women.
Kevin Batch, defending, handed in references to the court and Hunt was said to have the continuing support of his friends and his wife.
He was jailed for a total of four years and six months.
He was also ordered to pay £500 towards costs.
He was given a sexual harm prevention order and ordered to register as a sex offender, both until further notice.
