In a case that has shocked the community of Walpole St Peter, Paul Harwin, a 49-year-old man, faced serious allegations related to indecent assault and sexual misconduct involving two underage girls. The incident, which took place over a span of years, culminated in a court hearing at Norwich Crown Court where Harwin appeared to accept responsibility for his actions.

On the Friday of the hearing, Judge Simon Barham delivered a sentence that, while not resulting in immediate imprisonment, carried significant legal consequences for Harwin. He was sentenced to eight months in prison, but this term was suspended for two years, meaning Harwin would not serve time unless he committed another offence within that period. In addition to the suspended sentence, Harwin was ordered to register as a sex offender for the next ten years.
