PAUL FYFE FROM WHITEHAVEN ABUSES PET DOG IN CRIBBEL ROAD INCIDENT
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Whitehaven, Paul John Fyfe, a resident of King Street, was found guilty of heinous animal cruelty involving his pet dog, Grike. The incident took place on June 27, 2021, along Criffel Road in the nearby area of Parton, Cumbria.Fyfe, a construction worker and father of three, has a prior criminal record that includes a conviction for drink driving. His latest offense, however, has brought renewed attention to his treatment of animals. According to court records, Fyfe repeatedly struck his terrier-type dog with a length of wood, inflicting unnecessary suffering. The court heard that he then proceeded to throw the dog, an act that further demonstrated his disregard for the animal’s well-being.
The prosecution, brought forward by the RSPCA, emphasized that Fyfe was aware or should have been aware that his actions would cause significant pain and distress to Grike. The court was told that the cruelty occurred in broad daylight, and the evidence presented painted a clear picture of deliberate abuse.
Fortunately, Grike survived the attack, though the incident has left a lasting impact on the community and animal welfare advocates. The court’s decision resulted in Fyfe receiving a community order, which includes 20 days of rehabilitation activities aimed at addressing behavioral issues. Additionally, Fyfe was fined £120, with a victim surcharge of £95, and ordered to pay prosecution costs amounting to £400.
Furthermore, Fyfe received a two-year ban on keeping any animals, a restriction that was set to expire in December 2023. The case has sparked discussions about animal cruelty laws and the importance of safeguarding vulnerable animals in the Whitehaven area and beyond.
