PAUL DIXON FROM SUTTON-IN-ASHTON JAILED FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE IN NOTTINGHAMSHIRE

In a significant case that has shocked the community of Sutton-in-Ashfield and the wider Nottinghamshire area, police have commended the bravery of two young survivors who stepped forward to expose the crimes committed by Paul Dixon, a man accused of predatory sexual offenses against minors.

Between June 29, 2009, and February 24, 2017, Dixon engaged in a series of disturbing and illegal acts involving two girls, both under the age of 16. The lengthy period over which these offenses occurred highlights the severity and persistence of his predatory behavior. The case came to a head on February 23, when Dixon, aged 59 at the time, was found guilty in Nottingham Crown Court of multiple serious charges.

Specifically, Dixon was convicted of four counts of sexual activity with a child, six counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and an additional count of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child. These charges paint a disturbing picture of his misconduct, which spanned several years and involved both direct abuse and manipulative tactics.

During the trial, it was revealed that Dixon, who was formerly residing on Alfreton Road in Sutton-in-Ashfield, had committed acts of abuse in both public settings and within his own flat. Witnesses described how he would throw money at one of the victims, a tactic often used to manipulate or coerce young girls into compliance. The victim expressed her fear of what Dixon might do if she refused to participate in his abusive acts, illustrating the coercive environment he created.

The courage of one of the victims was further exemplified when she saw Dixon talking to a young child on a tram. This sight prompted her to report him to the police, breaking her silence and helping to bring his crimes to light. The second victim also suffered from Dixon’s manipulative tactics, which included offering money in exchange for sexual acts, further emphasizing the predatory nature of his conduct.

Following his conviction, Dixon was sentenced to nine years in prison. In addition to his incarceration, he was subjected to a sexual harm prevention order, which restricts his activities and contact to protect others from potential harm. Furthermore, he is now required to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and public safety measures.

This case underscores the importance of vigilance and the bravery of victims in confronting abuse, as well as the relentless efforts of law enforcement in seeking justice for vulnerable children in Nottinghamshire.
