Business Owner Fined After Assault on Ex-Partner Court bans him from contacting former partner for a year A BUSINESS owner has been hit with a court fine and banned from contacting his former partner after admitting to assaulting her during a confrontation at a car wash.
The incident unfolded at the Gleam Machine car wash and valet premises on Spott Road, Dunbar, where the court heard the woman was repeatedly pushed, causing her to fall to the ground.
Appearing before Edinburgh Sheriff Court, Paul Demarco, 36, pleaded guilty to the offence, which took place on 21 August.
Sheriffs imposed a £520 fine and granted a 12-month non-harassment order, meaning he must not approach or contact the woman during that period.
The court heard the assault happened during an altercation involving the former couple, bringing the incident before the criminal courts.
The sentence means any breach of the non-harassment order could result in further criminal proceedings.
