September 2004 Pervert jailed for three years over sex abuse A PERVERT who “groomed” a young schoolboy before sexually abusing him for seven years has been jailed for three years. Londonderry Crown Court sitting in Belfast yesterday heard that Paul John Brown, 41, began to develop a ” friendship” with the boy when he was aged nine or 10, in October 1988. Court was told that over the sevenyear period there had been “no penetration” but that the abuse amounted to indecent touching, leaving the victim suffering from depression. The now 25-year-old victim, who cannot be identified for legal reason, reported the abuse to police last May. Brown, from Carnamuff Road, Limavady, pleaded guilty to six counts of indecent assault and three further charges of indecent conduct towards a child between October 1988 and October 1995. Brown was ordered to serve a further two years on probation after his release.
