PAUL BALARSKY RUTHERGLEN GUILTY OF SEXUAL ASSAULTS ON TEENAGE GIRLS IN GLASGOW AND RUTHERGLEN
In a case that has sent shockwaves through the local community, Paul Balarsky, aged 20, has been found guilty of multiple charges related to the sexual assault of three teenage girls. The incidents took place across different locations in Glasgow, including a notable assault at a residence in Rutherglen, and involved victims aged between 14 and 17 years old.Balarsky’s criminal actions came to light during a trial at Glasgow Sheriff Court, where a jury convicted him of four separate charges of sexual assault. The court heard detailed accounts of his misconduct, which spanned from August 2017 to November 2018, involving three vulnerable young girls. One of the most disturbing incidents occurred in August 2017 at Balarsky’s home in Glasgow’s Shawlands area, where he offered a 14-year-old girl alcohol. Following her intoxication, he pinned her down on a bed, attempted to kiss her against her will, and proceeded to carry out sexual assaults.
The court also examined allegations involving a 15-year-old girl, who was found passed out drunk at a party in Pollokshields, Glasgow. A friend of the victim checked on her throughout the night and observed Balarsky behaving suspiciously, jumping up and claiming he was not doing anything inappropriate. The same girl later reported being groped twice while she was asleep at the same property when she was 16, indicating a pattern of predatory behavior.
Further disturbing evidence was presented regarding a 17-year-old girl in Rutherglen. In November 2018, she awoke to find Balarsky attempting to unfasten her jeans while she was sleeping. She described her experience, stating, “He was trying to touch my genitals without consent.” The girl managed to escape and informed a friend about the assault. Following the incident, Balarsky sent a remorseful text message to the victim, saying, “I know what I did was awful, I’m struggling to comprehend what happened. I need to go to therapy for something like that, it’s my fault, it totally is, I have never done anything worse.”
During the trial, Balarsky attempted to justify some of his actions, claiming that certain incidents were due to misunderstandings and alleging that one of the victims had lied. However, the jury was convinced of his guilt based on the evidence presented.
Sentencing has been deferred until next month to allow for the preparation of background reports by Sheriff Alan Mackenzie. Meanwhile, Balarsky has been placed on the sex offenders register and has been granted bail pending sentencing. The case has highlighted serious concerns about the safety of young girls in the Glasgow and Rutherglen areas, and the community awaits further legal action.
