RUTHERGLEN MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO POSSESSING INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN
A 21-year-old man named Christopher Smith admitted to possessing indecent images of minors.On March 19, 2025, police conducted a raid at his family residence in Rutherglen and recovered a Samsung mobile phone that stored 40 images, primarily of young girls aged between one and 14 years old.
Initially, Smith denied any knowledge of the images but later acknowledged owning the phone and provided the passwords.
Prosecutor Danielle McGuinness noted that Smith was unable to explain how the images came to be on his device and stated that he had no recollection of deleting them.
The court postponed sentencing until the following month to review background reports.
Meanwhile, Smith was placed on the sex offenders register and released on bail.
