A CONVICTED sex offender named Paul Baird, who is a registered sex offender, has been jailed for two years after he approached a nine-year-old boy outside a shop in Lanark Road, Carluke, and made indecent remarks to him.
The High Court in Edinburgh heard that Baird, 34, had been previously assessed as a high risk of reoffending and considered a danger to boys.
The victim's mother expressed her disgust, stating: "I am just absolutely disgusted.
He is a very high risk." Baird was already serving two probation orders for sex-related crimes at the time of this incident.
He had previously been given a three-year probation order after performing sex acts on a 14-year-old boy to whom he gave alcohol and had been subject to a further three-year probation order for similar offences.
During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Baird was a prisoner in Barlinnie jail and had a history of sexual offending against minors.
