June 2018 Carlisle man admits indecent child image crimes and online obscene article publication A CARLISLE man has admitted indecent child image crimes – and obscene article publication during online chat. Paul Douglas Bailey, 46, faced a dozen separate charges when he appeared at the city’s crown court over a video link. Bailey admitted charges of making indecent photographs of children – including category A, the most serious – between February 21 and 24 this year. He also pleaded guilty to eight offences of publishing obscene articles during online chat with others on dates during February and March. Bailey – who, the court heard, was a man of previous good character – further admitted the theft of children’s underwear belonging to a female. Judge James Adkin adjourned the case for the preparation of specialist reports by a psychologist and also the probation service. These will include an assessment of the risk Bailey, of Linton Street, Carlisle, presents both to children and of committing further crimes. Bailey was remanded in custody, and told he was due to receive his sentence at the crown court on July 23. “I haven’t made any decision about what the sentence will be,” said the judge. “All options will be available to whoever sentences you on that date.”
