PAUL ARTHUR OAKLEY FROM BILLLESLEY SENTENCED AFTER INDECENT ASSAULT ON TEENAGE GIRL IN BIRMINGHAM

Paul Arthur Oakley, a 41-year-old resident of Hollybank Road in Billesley, has been reimprisoned following his involvement in an indecent assault against a teenage girl. The incident, which took place in Birmingham, has brought Oakley's criminal history back into the spotlight, highlighting a troubling pattern of behavior.

Initially, Oakley denied the charges brought against him, maintaining his innocence during the early stages of the legal proceedings. However, as the case progressed to Warwick Crown Court, he ultimately changed his plea to guilty. This admission of guilt led to a sentence of two years in prison. In addition to his incarceration, Judge Marten Coates imposed several strict conditions upon Oakley's release. The judge ordered that Oakley serve a five-year period on license after his release, meaning he will be under supervision and subject to certain restrictions during this time.

Furthermore, Oakley was mandated to register as a sex offender for life, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his activities to protect the public. The court also prohibited him from working with children or being alone with minors under the age of 18, reflecting the seriousness of his offenses and the potential risk he poses to vulnerable individuals.

The case came to light after Oakley's release from a lengthy sentence at Birmingham Crown Court in August of the previous year. The incident involved Oakley purchasing alcohol for a 16-year-old girl during a pub outing in Birmingham. The situation escalated when Oakley began to touch the girl inappropriately at her mother’s residence, leading to her escape and the eventual legal action.

It was also revealed that Oakley has a significant prior criminal record. In December 1999, he was sentenced to ten years after being convicted of raping a nine-year-old girl and assaulting her, along with other children. However, this conviction was later quashed on appeal, reducing his sentence to four years. Despite this reduction, the court noted the troubling proximity of the recent offenses to his earlier release.

Judge Coates remarked on the case, stating, 'I have to deal with you on the basis that your criminal record is correct. I cannot deal with you on the basis that you want to appeal it. I look at this case as one which occurred very quickly after your release from that earlier sentence.' The judge’s comments underscore the gravity of Oakley's actions and the ongoing concern regarding his conduct and potential threat to society.
