PATRICK HAMPSON FROM LIVERPOOL JAILED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE AND HYPNOTISING SCHOOLBOY
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Liverpool, Patrick Hampson, aged 56, was convicted of multiple counts of indecent assault following a detailed trial at Liverpool Crown Court.The allegations reveal a pattern of heinous abuse involving two young boys during the 1990s, with Hampson targeting children as young as eight and eleven years old.
Hampson, a resident of Lord Nelson Street in Liverpool city centre, was accused of molesting these boys over a period of several years.
Prosecutors presented evidence that Hampson not only engaged in sexual misconduct but also attempted to manipulate the children through psychological means, including showing them his collection of adult pornography and attempting to hypnotise one of the victims.
These actions underscore the calculated and manipulative nature of his crimes.
During the trial, prosecutor Lee Bonner detailed the disturbing timeline of events.
He explained that Hampson was approximately 32 years old when he first began abusing Child A.
The victim recounted feeling intimidated by Hampson, who used threats and warnings to silence him.
Despite the fear, Child A later described feeling more ashamed than afraid, and he managed to stand up to Hampson, asserting that the abuse did not continue after that initial incident.
However, he did not disclose the abuse to anyone until 2006, when he was about 25 years old, at which point he confided in his parents and subsequently contacted the police.
Similarly, Child B became aware of the abuse much later, only feeling able to speak out in 2014.
He revealed that he had also been subjected to Hampson’s sexual misconduct between the ages of eight and ten.
At the time, Hampson would have been between 34 and 37 years old.
Child B described seeing pornographic magazines in Hampson’s possession and being subjected to sexual acts performed by Hampson himself.
Like Child A, he did not tell anyone about the abuse during the time it was happening, unaware that he was not the only victim.
Hampson denied the allegations, claiming that he did not show any pornography to the boys and suggesting that they must have discovered his stash without his knowledge.
He insisted in court that “nothing at all happened” and maintained that the victims were lying.
His denials were met with skepticism by the court, which heard emotional and compelling statements from the victims.
One of the victims has struggled with depression, highlighting the profound psychological impact of Hampson’s actions.
Judge David Turner, QC, described the victims’ statements as “very moving” and acknowledged the severe psychological harm caused by Hampson’s behaviour.
In his sentencing, the judge imposed a six-year prison term on Hampson, along with an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Hampson is also required to register as a sex offender on the Sex Offenders Register for an indefinite period.
Despite being led away in custody, Hampson showed no visible emotion, although a woman in the public gallery shouted at him as he was taken away, reflecting the community’s outrage and the lasting impact of his crimes.
