HULL BROTHERS PATRICK AND ANDREW MCKIE SENTENCED FOR RAPE OF YOUNG GIRLS

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Hull, two brothers, Patrick McKie, aged 36, and Andrew McKie, aged 31, have been sentenced to a combined total of nine years in prison after being found guilty of raping two young girls. The heinous crimes took place when the victims were just eight and ten years old, and the brothers' actions have left a lasting impact on the victims and the local community alike.

Patrick and Andrew McKie, both known to have learning difficulties, committed their crimes at different times and against different victims. Their arrest came after one of the young girls confided in a school friend about the abuse, prompting police to launch an investigation that ultimately led to their capture. Patrick McKie pleaded guilty to one count of rape and five counts of sexual activity with a child, while Andrew McKie admitted to a single count of rape during the court proceedings.

One of the victims, now aged 15, bravely spoke out about her ordeal, emphasizing that her brother’s learning difficulties do not justify his actions. She stated, “I don’t feel safe anymore. Having learning difficulties is no excuse for what he did to me. I don’t think the sentence he received was enough, but nothing can be enough for what he put me through.” The girl also revealed that she is still struggling to come to terms with the trauma, explaining, “I can’t get close to anyone anymore, not even members of my family. I am coping better now he has been jailed, but it is still very difficult. I can’t concentrate at school. It has affected every part of my life.”

Details of the crimes reveal a disturbing pattern. Patrick McKie invited his ten-year-old victim to his flat to watch football. Once inside, he locked her in, got her drunk on strong lager, and then proceeded to rape her while filming the assault on his mobile phone. His barrister, Patrick Palmer, argued that Patrick’s difficulties should be taken into account, stating, “He has many difficulties. Nobody ever taught him to read and write. He was bullied at school as a child and has lived an insular life on his own. He accepts what he has done is wrong.”

Andrew McKie’s past also includes a troubling incident. As a schoolboy, he raped an eight-year-old girl. His barrister, Chris Dunn, highlighted his vulnerability at the time, saying, “At the time, this defendant was only 14. He was particularly vulnerable.”

Both brothers, residents of Boulevard in west Hull, have been ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life. Despite their convictions, they have no previous criminal record, but their actions have undoubtedly marked them as dangerous offenders in the eyes of the law and the community.
