PATRICIA O’DWYER JAILED FOR FRENZIED STABBING OF SISTER IN CAMBRIDGE
Patricia O’Dwyer, a 37-year-old woman, was sentenced to six years in prison following a violent assault on her sister at Ditton Fields, Cambridge. The incident took place on July 21, when O’Dwyer attacked her sibling using a knife, stabbing and slashing her multiple times. Emergency services responded to the scene, where witnesses were already administering first aid to the severely injured victim, who was found collapsed on the ground. During her arrest, officers noted bloodstains on O’Dwyer’s hands and discovered a concealed knife hidden in her bra. Her sister, who is 41 years old, was transported to hospital and treated for six stab wounds affecting her abdomen, neck, and elbow. At Cambridge Crown Court, O’Dwyer admitted to charges of wounding with intent and possessing a knife, leading to her six-year prison sentence. She is also likely to serve an additional five years on extended licence. She further pleaded guilty to related offences, including carrying an offensive weapon in a public place, common assault, witness intimidation, racially motivated harassment, and possession of cannabis. Detective Constable William Kerslake commented, “O’Dwyer launched a frenzied attack, stabbing and slashing her sister numerous times. It is fortunate she was not seriously injured or killed that day. Thanks to quick action from bystanders, the victim received prompt medical aid, and O’Dwyer was promptly detained.”
