PATRICIA GOFFIN FROM DUMBARTON SHAMES ANIMAL AND HUMAN VICTIMS IN HORRIFIC ATTACKS
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Dumbarton, Patricia Goffin, born on October 25, 1992, and residing at 6 Maryland Road, Bellsmyre, Dumbarton G82 3DH, was found guilty of multiple acts of violence and cruelty. The court heard that Goffin repeatedly kicked a dog, inflicting severe physical harm on the animal. The details of the dog's condition following the attack have not been disclosed, but the cruelty was deemed serious enough to warrant a conviction. In addition to her abuse of the animal, Goffin also admitted to assaulting a child and her partner during an incident that took place at a flat on Cornock Street, Clydebank, on May 30, 2022. The court was informed that Goffin grabbed hold of a young girl and repeatedly struck her, as well as assaulting her partner in a violent outburst. Witnesses reported that during the attack, Goffin was shouting, swearing, and uttering threats of violence, creating a tense and frightening environment for those involved.
The mother of five children, Goffin’s actions have raised serious concerns about her conduct and the safety of those around her. Her guilty plea to causing unnecessary suffering to the dog and the assault charges related to her partner and child marked a significant moment in the case. Despite her admission, the court deferred sentencing scheduled for October 11 to allow social workers to prepare a comprehensive background report on her history.
However, upon reviewing the contents of the report, Sheriff William Gallacher expressed the need for more information about Goffin’s background before proceeding with a sentence. He indicated that additional details were necessary to ensure a fair and appropriate outcome. As a result, Goffin will return to court at a later date for sentencing, with the exact penalty to be determined following further review.
The case has garnered considerable attention in Dumbarton and Clydebank, highlighting issues of animal cruelty and domestic violence within the community. The court’s decision to delay sentencing underscores the complexity of the case and the importance of understanding the full context of Goffin’s actions.
