HACKNEY RAPIST PASCAL JOMBLA SENTENCED TO 19 YEARS FOR BRUTAL ATTACK ON VULNERABLE WOMAN

In a harrowing case that has shocked the Hackney community, Pascal Jombla, a 46-year-old man residing on Amhurst Road, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being found guilty of a series of heinous crimes against a vulnerable woman. The incident, which took place in June 2022, involved a sustained and vicious assault that left the victim severely injured and traumatized.

On the night of June 21, 2022, Jombla forcibly took the victim into his home, where he subjected her to a brutal attack that included multiple rapes and physical violence. Witnesses and evidence later revealed that Jombla punched and kicked the woman repeatedly, inflicting injuries so severe that she was rushed to the hospital for urgent medical treatment. The assault was characterized by its brutality and the victim’s desperate pleas for mercy, which fell on deaf ears as Jombla threatened her to silence her during the ordeal.

The following morning, Jombla eventually fell asleep, providing the victim with a fleeting opportunity to escape. She managed to break free and called out for help from the front doorway of his residence. A passing member of the public responded immediately, coming to her aid and calling emergency services. Paramedics arrived promptly and found the woman suffering from facial injuries, extensive bruising across her body, and a fracture to her lower back, among other physical traumas. She was transported to a nearby hospital where doctors confirmed the extent of her injuries and began treatment.

During a court hearing, the victim delivered a heartfelt statement describing the profound impact the assault has had on her life. She expressed feelings of fear, confusion, and ongoing distress, stating, “What happened to me on that night has severely impacted on my life in every way. I was thinking how can this be happening to me? How is it possible? Will I get out alive? What is going to happen to me? Will he kill me? This will continue to affect me in all ways and I know it will continue to have an impact on my life in the future.” She also shared her struggles with everyday activities, revealing her ongoing anxiety and difficulty in moving forward, despite her efforts to resume a normal life.

Jombla was arrested later that same morning at his residence, where officers found him still asleep. The police investigation involved collecting DNA evidence, analyzing CCTV footage, and interviewing numerous witnesses to establish a solid case against him. Throughout the process, Jombla remained silent during his police interview and did not offer any comments. He was formally charged on June 24, 2022.

Following a trial, Jombla was convicted on November 8, 2022, of six counts of rape and two counts of actual bodily harm. His sentencing took place at Wood Green Crown Court on June 21, where he received an extended sentence of 24 years.
