NUNO RODRIGUES FROM PLYMOUTH CAUGHT SENDING EXPLICIT PHOTOS TO 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL
In April 2019, a serious incident unfolded involving Nuno Rodrigues, a nurse based in Plymouth, who was caught engaging in highly inappropriate online behavior.Rodrigues, a father of two, was found to have been sending explicit photographs to a girl he believed to be only 13 years old.
The case was brought to light during a court hearing where it was revealed that Rodrigues had been involved in conversations of a sexual nature through messaging platforms such as KIK Messenger and Skype.
Rodrigues had interacted with a profile named ‘Maisie,’ which displayed a picture of a young girl.
During their online exchanges, ‘Maisie’ claimed to be 13 years old.
However, it was later confirmed that the profile was operated by an undercover officer from Devon and Cornwall Police, stationed in Plymouth.
The police investigation uncovered that Rodrigues had been engaging in these conversations with the intent of establishing a sexual connection with someone he believed to be a minor.
Judge Paul Darlow presided over the case at Plymouth Crown Court and stated that Rodrigues was being sentenced for attempting to engage in sexual communications with a child.
Despite the gravity of the offense, the judge chose to suspend Rodrigues’s prison sentence, emphasizing the potential impact on his family.
Judge Darlow remarked that the consequences for Rodrigues’s family would be far more devastating than any punishment the court could impose.
At the time of the incident, Rodrigues was employed as a registered nurse at Derriford Hospital’s Accident & Emergency department.
He had been working in the healthcare profession for a decade within the UK and had previously qualified in Portugal, where he spent three years practicing as a nurse.
Rodrigues, residing at Octans Way, Sherford, pleaded guilty to charges of intentionally engaging in sexual communication with a person under 16, knowing or believing that the individual was underage.
The court found sufficient evidence to convict him of online sexualized chat with a minor.
As part of his sentence, Rodrigues received a ten-month prison term, which was suspended for two years.
Additionally, he was subjected to a two-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, aimed at restricting his future conduct.
Furthermore, Rodrigues was ordered to complete a 36-month community order, requiring him to adhere to specific conditions set by the court to prevent any further offenses.
