NTINOS MIKELLIDES FROM LINCOLN AND NOTTINGHAM JAILED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CRIMES

In a disturbing case that has shocked the communities of Lincoln and Nottingham, Ntinos Mikellides, a 40-year-old man residing in Carlton Heights, Nottingham, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for his involvement in the creation and possession of indecent images of children. The sentencing took place at Lincoln Crown Court on September 1, following Mikellides’s guilty plea to a total of nine charges related to the production of child pornography, as well as three additional counts of possessing such illicit images.

The criminal activities spanned over a period of more than three years, with offenses committed at various times between March 2010 and October 2013 within the city of Lincoln. The case came to light after authorities received credible information indicating that Mikellides’s computer at his Lincoln residence might have been accessing and downloading child exploitation material from online sharing sites.

On October 25 of the previous year, Lincolnshire Police executed a search warrant at Mikellides’s home on Mill Lane in Lincoln. During the raid, officers discovered him in his bedroom with his computer turned on and actively downloading indecent images of children. The police seized the device for forensic examination, which revealed a staggering total of 94,438 indecent images stored on the hard drive.

Further analysis by forensic investigators categorized these images based on the children’s identities, nationalities, and the activities depicted. The sheer volume and disturbing nature of the material underscored the severity of Mikellides’s crimes. Detective Sergeant Vicky Midgeley, a member of Lincolnshire Police’s Internet Child Abuse Team (ICAT), expressed her strong views following the court’s decision. She stated, “I am incredibly pleased with the sentence handed to Mikellides, which reflects the seriousness of his crimes. The amount and range of images he had on his computer and available to him was both horrifying and astounding.”

Sergeant Midgeley also highlighted Mikellides’s own account during police interviews, where he claimed to have stumbled upon these sites while searching for sexually explicit content. However, investigators found that his continued use of these sites indicated a clear sexual gratification derived from viewing such material. She emphasized the police’s commitment to tackling this form of exploitation, saying, “We want others who may use and share indecent images of children on these sites to know that just because they are behind closed doors does not mean we will not find them. We will do everything in our power to identify them and see them answerable before the courts.”

The officer further explained that efforts are ongoing to identify any children who may have been featured in the images and videos, with the aim of removing them from harm and providing support. She concluded by reaffirming the police’s dedication to combating the systematic exploitation of children and reducing the demand for such illicit content, which in turn could help diminish its supply.
