NORMAN ROBINSON PREDATOR FROM LEEDS AND YORK JAILED FOR CHILD SEX ABUSE
In a case that has shocked the communities of Leeds and York, Norman Robinson, a former primary school teacher, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for a series of heinous sexual offenses committed against young boys during the late 1970s through the 1980s.Robinson, who once taught at a primary school in Leeds, exploited his position of authority and trust to carry out a pattern of abuse that spanned over a decade.
The court heard that he targeted vulnerable boys in his classroom, often luring them into private spaces under the guise of discipline or classroom chores.
During these encounters, Robinson would subject his victims to sexual acts, some of which involved taking Polaroid photographs as a disturbing record of his crimes.
One of the victims, who was present in the public gallery during the sentencing at Leeds Crown Court, expressed his anger and pain by shouting that he hoped Robinson would die in prison.
The victim’s words underscored the lasting trauma inflicted by Robinson’s actions.
As Robinson was led away from the dock, the emotional weight of the case was palpable.
The court was informed that Robinson’s victims had endured years of psychological suffering, struggling to come to terms with the abuse they had suffered.
The case first came to light in 2014 when one victim, after years of silence, finally reported the abuse to police.
This revelation prompted a thorough investigation that uncovered a disturbing pattern of misconduct.
The investigation revealed that Robinson’s misconduct was not limited to the classroom.
Prosecutor Gerald Hendron detailed that Robinson also abused a victim after taking him back to his flat on Darfield Road, Harehills, where the abuse continued in private.
Another boy was subjected to repeated abuse during day trips, with Robinson exploiting opportunities to isolate his victims by making them stay behind after classes under false pretenses such as punishment or classroom cleanup.
Some of the most disturbing incidents involved Robinson forcing boys into a cupboard, where he continued his sexual abuse.
Despite interruptions from other teachers entering the classroom, Robinson managed to conceal his actions by instructing the boys to hide or remain silent.
The abuse was not only sexual but also included physical violence, adding to the trauma experienced by the victims.
Robinson, now residing at Middlecroft Grove, Strensall, near York, pleaded guilty to multiple serious charges, including 11 counts of gross indecency, five counts of indecent assault, taking indecent photographs of a child, three counts of making indecent photographs of a child, and possession of indecent images.
The offenses spanned from 1976 to 1989, revealing a long history of predatory behavior.
When police arrested Robinson, they discovered a cache of 544 indecent images of children stored on his mobile phone and computer equipment seized from his home.
The investigation uncovered the extent of his depravity, highlighting the importance of vigilance and justice for victims of such abuse.
