NIGEL SADDINGTON'S HORRIFIC CRIME IN PORTSMOUTH REVEALED

In a deeply disturbing case that has shaken the Portsmouth community, a man who was victimized by Nigel Saddington, a navy cadet instructor, has come forward to share the devastating impact of the abuse he endured over a decade ago. The survivor, who chose to waive his right to anonymity, spoke candidly about how his life was irreparably damaged by Saddington's actions, which began when he was just 15 years old.

He recounted that the abuse started during a camping trip near Petersfield, where Saddington, then a trusted figure, had been welcomed into his family home in Fareham. Saddington, who resided on Spenlow Close in Buckland, Portsmouth, initially appeared as a helpful 'uncle' figure, earning the trust of the young boy and his family. However, this facade quickly crumbled as Saddington began to sexually assault him in secluded lay-bys, turning what was supposed to be a family outing into a nightmare of exploitation.

The victim, now an adult, revealed that the abuse continued for several years before finally ending two years ago. During this period, he struggled with heavy drinking, attempting to drown out the memories of the trauma inflicted upon him. His mental health deteriorated to the point where he even contemplated suicide. His relationship with his own daughter, born when he was 22, suffered greatly; he saw her only sporadically, believing himself to be an unworthy father due to the shame and guilt he carried.

His life took a turn when he decided to seek help and began to rebuild himself. However, the pain resurfaced when he discovered that his daughter had grown very close to Saddington. Her mother had befriended Saddington, who had become a regular babysitter for her, unknowingly allowing the predator to remain close to his family. The survivor was deeply hurt when he learned that his daughter called Saddington 'Daddy' and himself 'Aaron.'

He explained, “That hurt. That was the moment I was determined I was going to get him away from my family.” This resolve led him to finally report Saddington to the authorities. The offender was subsequently jailed for eight years for assault, a sentence that reflects the severity of his crimes.
