SWINDON WOMAN SENTENCED FOR REVENGE PORN SHARING
A Swindon woman named Nicole Slip, aged 31, has been sentenced for sharing an intimate photo of another woman on social media. The court proceedings revealed that Slip, from Redhouse, appeared at Swindon Magistrates' Court on July 8 after pleading guilty to the charge of sharing photographs of someone in an intimate state with the intent to cause alarm, distress, or humiliation.
The incident occurred following a long-running dispute between Slip and the victim, which led Slip to post the photo online sometime between March 20 and April 17 of the current year.
The court heard that Slip had obtained a partly naked photo of the victim from a WhatsApp group and then saved and used it as her profile picture on social media platforms like Instagram, also sending a threatening video.
The judge described Slip’s actions as a reflection of their ongoing altercation, which has severely impacted the victim.
Slip acknowledged her actions, accepted they were unacceptable, and had deleted the social media apps she used, including those where the photo was shared.
She was handed a 12-month community order, required to complete 20 rehabilitation sessions, and work with the Nelson Trust women’s service.
Additionally, she was fined £40, ordered to pay £85 in costs, and a £114 surcharge.
The court noted that since being diagnosed with autism in 2020, Slip has made efforts to understand her condition and behave appropriately.
The incident was viewed as part of a damaging pattern from their ongoing conflict.
