NICOLA STEWART HANNAH'S HORRIFIC CRIMES IN BATLEY, HUDDERSFIELD, AND SCISSETT REVEALED
In a disturbing case that has shocked the communities of Batley, Huddersfield, and Scissett, a man named Stewart Hannah, aged 38, was convicted of possessing and downloading an alarming number of indecent images of children.The court heard that Hannah, who bears a striking resemblance to the character Frank Gallagher from the TV drama Shameless, had accumulated over 29,000 illegal images.
His actions led to a 12-month prison sentence, a verdict delivered swiftly by the jury, who took less than an hour to find him guilty of 21 charges related to child abuse images.
Hannah was known to browse the internet under the alias 'Frank G,' a nickname referencing his resemblance to the TV character.
During the trial, it was revealed that he had previously served time in prison for sexually assaulting girls under the age of 16.
Despite his criminal history, Hannah denied the current allegations, claiming that the child pornography material was planted on his computers by teenage victims who had broken into his home while he was incarcerated.
He insisted that these teenagers had stolen his equipment, downloaded thousands of images, and then returned to his home to leave the illegal material behind.
Hannah further claimed that upon his release from prison, he discovered the illicit images and promptly reported the matter to his probation officer and the police.
He alleged that authorities did not take any action but instead encouraged him to continue viewing the material, asserting that he was assisting in the fight against crime.
However, the court was not convinced by his explanations.
Judge James Spencer, QC, sentenced him to a year in prison, stating, “The jury has rejected your explanation for what happened.
I am not surprised having heard the evidence.
It is clear that it was your pathetic attempt to escape responsibility.” Law enforcement officials arrested Hannah in 2010, following a search warrant executed at his wife’s workplace at West End Marina in Huddersfield.
During the raid, police seized electronic devices from his home in Soothill, Batley, which contained further evidence of child pornography.
The investigation revealed a disturbing pattern of behavior, linking him to the possession of illegal images and further emphasizing his predatory conduct.
In a separate and equally disturbing case from March 2007, Nicola and Stewart Hannah, a married couple residing on Wakefield Road in Scissett, were convicted of sexually abusing four teenage girls aged between 15 and 17.
The couple was sentenced to a total of five years in prison at Leeds Crown Court.
Nicola Hannah, aged 45, was sentenced to two years and was visibly distressed, collapsing in the dock as she received her sentence.
Her husband, Stewart Hannah, aged 42, received a three-year prison term.
The court heard that the couple held drunken parties starting on New Year’s Eve 2005, during which they groomed and molested the young girls.
The victims were subjected to inappropriate touching, with Stewart Hannah placing his hand inside one girl’s bra and pinning another to a bed.
At one such party, Stewart was observed sitting in a chair, touching himself while instructing Nicola to kiss one of the teenagers.
The girls, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were encouraged to wear revealing clothing, and the court was told that it was a rule in their house that no one wore underwear.
During the trial, the jury learned that Nicola Hannah took one of the girls to her bedroom, where she made her try on stockings and a suspender belt.
