NICHOLAS TUCK FROM THORNBURY SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT AND INDECENT IMAGES INVOLVING CHILDREN AND ANIMALS IN BRISTOL

In a serious case that has shocked the community of Thornbury, Nicholas Tuck, a 50-year-old man residing on Knapp Road, was formally sentenced to a prison term of 21 months following his conviction for the sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl and the possession of a significant number of indecent images. The incident and subsequent investigation have raised grave concerns about the safety of children and the impact of harmful material on individuals with deviant interests.

Last Friday, Tuck appeared before Bristol Crown Court to face the charges brought against him. He had previously entered a guilty plea to the charges of sexually assaulting the young girl on April 11 of the same year, as well as possessing over 600 indecent images that included material involving both children and animals. The court proceedings revealed the disturbing details of the case, which have left the local community in a state of distress.

According to prosecutor Caroline Bolt, the young girl immediately reported the assault, prompting swift police action. Tuck was arrested shortly thereafter but was released on bail pending further investigation. During the police inquiry, authorities seized Tuck’s personal computer from his residence in Thornbury. The forensic analysis uncovered 298 extreme pornographic images depicting sexual acts involving horses and dogs, as well as 308 indecent images of children. These findings painted a disturbing picture of Tuck’s online activity.

Ms. Bolt explained that Tuck was referred to as a ‘surfer’ by investigators because none of the illicit images had been saved directly onto his computer’s hard drive. Instead, it appeared that Tuck had viewed these images on multiple occasions without storing them. Despite this, police confirmed that Tuck had viewed the images twice on the day of the assault, which linked his online activity to the criminal act.

Further police interviews took place on May 20, during which Tuck was formally charged with possession of indecent images. He was subsequently remanded into custody. The court heard that Tuck’s actions and viewing habits demonstrated a troubling pattern of deviant interests, which contributed to the severity of his sentencing.

During mitigation, Tuck’s legal representative, Robert Morgan-Jones, described him as a man of good character who had not previously attracted the attention of authorities. Morgan-Jones also highlighted that at the time of the assault, Tuck was struggling to cope with the breakdown of a long-term relationship and was facing financial hardships, factors that may have contributed to his behavior.

However, Judge Mark Horton emphasized the gravity of the evidence, stating that Tuck’s interest in pornography involving both women and animals was indicative of a deviant sexual preference. The judge underscored that the most concerning aspect was the direct link between Tuck’s consumption of such material and his commission of a sexual assault against a young girl. The court’s verdict reflected the seriousness of these findings.

In sentencing, Judge Horton acknowledged that Tuck had already served 109 days in custody, which would be deducted from his total sentence. Tuck was ordered to serve at least half of his 21-month term. Additionally, he was prohibited from working with children for the rest of his life and was placed on the sex offenders’ register for a period of 10 years. A sexual offences prevention order was also issued to restrict Tuck’s future activities and protect the community from potential harm.
