NICHOLAS TAYLOR FROM DALTON SENTENCED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY AND SEXUAL ABUSE IN SHREWSBURY AND NEWBY BRIDGE
In a case that has sent shockwaves through the local communities, Nicholas Taylor, a man with a disturbing history of sexual offenses against minors, has been sentenced for his involvement in child exploitation activities. Taylor, who has previously lived in Dalton and more recently in Shrewsbury, was found guilty of possessing and distributing child pornography, as well as engaging in sexual abuse related to minors.According to court records, Taylor, aged 41 at the time of sentencing, was described by Judge Anthony Russell as a paedophile driven by an unhealthy and criminal instinct. The judge emphasized the significant risk Taylor poses to children, which warranted an indefinite period of imprisonment. The court heard that Taylor’s criminal behavior was not limited to online activities but also included disturbing actions involving real children.
Preston Crown Court was informed that Taylor, who once worked as a fine-dining manager at the prestigious Lakeside Hotel in Newby Bridge, had a deeply troubling online presence. He admitted to charges of sex abuse and possessing a series of child pornography materials. During the proceedings, Taylor did not provide any explanation for his actions, leaving the court to conclude that his motives were rooted in a sexual attraction to children.
The court also learned that Taylor had a limited understanding of the harm caused by his actions, which further underscored the severity of his offenses. His online activities included frequent visits to a website called “Family Fun,” where he viewed and downloaded graphic images and videos depicting children being sexually abused. It was revealed that Taylor accessed this site more than 50 times, during which he watched other parents abusing their children and downloaded numerous vile images and videos of minors being defiled.
Following his arrest and subsequent conviction, Taylor’s previous residence in Dalton was noted, and it was also mentioned that he had been living in Shrewsbury after his release from prison in 2011. His criminal activities, spanning several years, have caused considerable concern among local residents and authorities alike, highlighting the ongoing threat posed by individuals with such disturbing predilections.
